Flange Unit Single component wheel hub and flange unit provide improved heat dispersion. Further benefits are gained from the increased distance between the brake disc and wheel bearing, resulting from the use of the new stepped hub unit bearing. |
Axle Beam The GIGANT monobloc axle beam has been developed further to improve the strength of the axle beam in critical areas. |

| The new standard GIGANT axle was designed specifically for mass production use in the standard trailer market.
The axle will be available with an offset (ET) 120mm, a brake size of 22,5" (430x45) or 19,5" (377x45) and wheel bolt centres of 335mm to suit a 22,5" rim. The new axle will be available from the middle of 2005. The new axle has been developed using many components from GIGANT and SMB axles, to improve the availability of spare parts. |
|
| Additional detailed advantages are: | |
| • | A weight saving of 8 kg opposed to the already very light GIGANT axle. |
| • | The brake disc can be changed without disassembling the wheel bearing, thereby following the successful principle of |
| the GIGANT drum axle. | |
| • | By use of extremely reliable and service free wheel bearings the hub cap is no longer required. |
| • | Further weight savings are obtained when the axle is used in conjunction with the GIGANT air suspension type FB70. |
| • | Cost savings arising from the modern manufacturing techniques and consistent engineering level provided by SMB. |
