Small but strongGreater axle load despite lower deadweight in the new 7-ton axle
Dinklage, September 2010. Gigant has completely upgraded the long runner 6.7 ton axle for lighter road transport. This axle has lost 57 kg in weight despite a payload increased to 7,000 kg. At the same time, the axle system designed for high mileage has a completely maintenance-free SKF compact bearing. The axle is available with disk brake or the new integrated, service-friendly PROTEC brake in which the drum is incorporated in front of the hub. There are 6 or 10-hole wheel end systems, with a pitch circle of 205 mm and 225 mm, which permit use of many rim combinations. One special feature of the series of small axles from Gigant is the screw-on air suspension bracket which already has fastening bolts at delivery and thus permits faster and easier assembly. The axle will be available in the same price segment from the first quarter of 2011 despite the greatly improved structural design. GIGANT is one of the leading manufacturers of trailer axles in Europe. Facilities in France, Germany and Great Britain manufacture, in a production group, high-volume axles for standard trailers as well as special axles for the heavy-duty and low-loader sector .
